In my young teenage years, when youth sought popularity and all things awesome, I started listening to the radio. Naturally, I looked for the most awesome radio station. I started with 'Power 99', but I quickly decided KISN 97 was better. Most other teens wanted music, not talk, but for me, the DJ made the difference. Thus, I woke up and spent my early morning with Fisher and Todd (or 'Fish-Face and Toad') through my teens until my mission. I can still recall some of the words of the early morning wake-up call they played. The song informed the newly awakened individual that he or she had hair like Don King and a face that looked like a tractor ran over it.
When I returned from my mission, Erin had joined the KISN morning team. Fisher and Todd mercifully no longer called themselves 'Fish-Face and Toad'. I thought maybe Erin had something to do with this. Thus, I immediately liked Erin. They were funnier than ever, without the odd alias. The most fun I had with Fisher, Todd, and Erin came the day after the Jazz won the Western Conference in 1997. They played 'Uh oh' and 'Jon Stockton sends the Utah Jazz to the NBA finals!' all morning - often mercilessly repeating the 'uh oh' several times before they let the recording proceed. I've seen over a dozen Christmas seasons with Fisher and/or Todd and Erin wherin they brought Christmas joy to hundreds. If you count the listeners, chalk that up to thousands.
Since then Todd and Erin moved on to B98.7, KISN died, Fisher kept reappearing on my radio on different stations, finally landing on KOSY 106.5 FM, and someone decided all radio station morning shows must have one man and one woman. For a long time, I've wanted to thank my favorite morning DJs for bringing me so many good times, and so much joy. Finally I'm taking that long overdue step:
Thank you Fisher, Todd, and Erin. You've brought me many happy, exciting, and joyful times. You've turned many a blue morning to a good one. I love Utah for so many reasons. Each of you makes Utah even better. Thank you for filling Utah with quality air waves.
